In a forceful speech addressed to the nation and the international community, the President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, has expressed its firm rejection to the militarization of the border with the United States. Besideshas demanded fair treatment for Mexican citizens in the U.S. and has emphasized Mexico’s sovereignty, stressing that the country is not a colony of any foreign nation.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador has addressed key issues regarding the bilateral relationship with the United States, reaffirming his government’s position against proposals and actions that he considers detrimental to Mexico’s sovereignty and well-being.

AMLO’s speech

López Obrador strongly rejected the militarization of the border with the United States. “We don’t want a wall or the militarization of our border”the president said. He also stressed that these measures are not only ineffective, but also go against the principles of mutual respect. According to Obrador, they affect the cooperation that should guide the relationship between the two countries.

AMLO also made clear the firm commitment of his government to the sovereignty and independence of the countryAddressing the United States and the international community, López Obrador stressed that Mexico is a free, independent and sovereign nation. “Mexico is a free and independent country. We are not a colony of any nation,” López Obrador declared firmly.
