The teacher in Economics from the Colegio de México (Colmex) added that the specialization she has had will allow her, if her appointment is approved, to contribute knowledge and experience to the Bank of Mexico, which, in addition to having as its sole mandate to maintain power purchasing power of the national currency, it also has the responsibility of guaranteeing the functioning and healthy development of the financial system and the payment system.
The appearance in which the official participates is part of the process so that her appointment can be ratified by the senators. Previously, the senator, Ricardo Monreal, detailed that the plenary session of the Chamber of Senators will be in a position to vote on Thursday, December 2 to ratify Rodriguez Ceja’s proposal for Banxico, on behalf of the president of Mexico.
Their positions
Rodríguez Ceja has a degree in Economics from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) and a Master’s degree in Economics from Colmex.
He has worked in the public finance area, highlighting his participation in budgetary, financial and debt issues.
Rodríguez Ceja has held different positions, including the Undersecretary of Expenditures in the Ministry of Finance, which is the position he currently occupies.
“(Banxico) systematically carries out open market operations to maintain a monetary balance that guarantees the fulfillment of its constitutional objective, so there is a daily and close relationship between the Bank of Mexico and the Treasury to preserve the macroeconomic foundations of the country. It is natural that this responsibility is shared in the exercise of public finances, “he said in his initial message.
He explained that the Undersecretariat of Expenditures, until now in his charge, also participates in different forums, committees and working groups within the Treasury, where in addition to responsibility for spending, decisions and discussions regarding financial programming are carried out, liability management and hedging operations.
This undersecretary also participates in government bodies and the specialized committees of Bancomext, Banj Ejército, Nafin, the Banobras Credit Committee, technical committees of trusts for economic development, such as Fira, Fefa, Fovi and Fonadin.
Experience in CDMX finances
From 2012 to 2018, Rodríguez Ceja was head of the Undersecretariat of Expenditures in the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Mexico City. Within the same agency, she served as General Director of Expenditures and General Director of Budgetary Policy of Mexico City during the period from 2009 to 2011.
This experience also allowed him to study, discuss and handle issues related to the financial system, public debt, the official explained.
Between 2004 and 2009 she held the position of Director of Finance in the Metro Collective Transportation System. From 2002 to 2004 she was Director of Debt within the Ministry of Finance of the Government of the Federal District.
