In this regard, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Jose Aristastated that institutions, as part of their growth, require different skills from the people who direct them.
“Gerardo López fulfilled the task of waking up Sunat from the lethargy it had three or four years ago, which made us lose more than one point of the Gross Domestic Product and that has complicated the fulfillment of fiscal goals,” he highlighted.
Arista pointed out that now the administration needs to be led by people with complementary skills to that of the previous head of Sunat. In that sense, he pointed out that what is sought is to continue with the digital integration between Sunat and the Tax Court.
“We have seen fit to replace Gerardo, who is a Sunat official, with a person like Víctor Mejía who has experience not only in Sunat, but also in the Tax Court,” he said after the Council of Ministers session.
