Mexico City, Mexico-. Yonelsy Cadrelo Rodríguez and Vladimir Jerez Roselló were identified by the authorities as the two people who died this Saturday in a fire occurred inside a house in Centro Habana.
The incident occurred around five in the morning near the intersection of San José and Espada streets. In addition to the two fatalities, both residents of the scene of the event, three other people ended up injured.
“A 45-year-old housewife and a 48-year-old citizen were killed, three citizens aged 18, 56 and 61 were injured (two reported seriously and one medically discharged), when a fire started in the house, after burning completely the battery of an electric motorcycle”, indicated the note of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) of the Centro Habana municipality, published in the weekly Havana Tribune.
This is not the first fire similar to that reported related to a motorina. Last month, a fire originated at dawn, due to the explosion of an electric motorcycle, caused serious damage to the emblematic Hermanas Giralt building, in the Havana neighborhood of El Vedado.
The people reported as injured after the incident in Central Havana were Segundo César Ochoa Suárez, María Karla Román Cadrelo and Teresa Luisa Rosales Fonseca. The latter is a resident of Bayamo, Granma, details the official information.
The incident occurred at 5:10 a.m. this Saturday, March 11, at San José No. 1058, between Espada and San Francisco streets. The injured were sent to the Calixto García Hospital, where two of them remain hospitalized.
On the other hand, in recent weeks the forest fires on the island have made constant headlines. In the eastern zone, hundreds of hectares consumed by fire have been lost.
With more than 80 forest fires, January 2023 reached a record number of these incidents in Cuban territory, according to the historical records of the Cuban Ranger Corps for that month, according to a report from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT). quoted by the Cuban News Agency (ACN).
