Vice President Rodríguez warns about economic effects due to the Ukraine issue

The international situation caused by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is having an impact on the world economy and the results are already beginning to be seen, said the Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, on Tuesday.

He asserted that the conflict is mainly impacting “the price and supply of food.”

«The results of the economic aggression against Russia are already beginning to be seen. We are already beginning to see the results of a conflict that could have been avoided if the agreements between NATO and Russia had been fulfilled,” he said from the National Assembly, where he presented his management report, as well as the balance of the actions of ministers of the Executive Cabinet .

As a result of the global situation, Rodríguez pointed out that the price index of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has increased by 29%.

Rodríguez pointed out that Venezuela rejects “any form of economic aggression, illicit sanction and unilateral coercive and extortive measures that threaten the full enjoyment and enjoyment of Human Rights.”

Since the Russian operation in Ukraine began on February 24, Western countries and the European Union (EU) bloc have imposed sanctions on Russia in the financial, commercial, agricultural, energy, closure of airspace, export sectors. and other key areas.

Regarding the sanctions against Venezuela, Rodríguez pointed out that “they were vicious” with the entry of food, medicine, transportation and public services; and they also had repercussions on other countries and international companies so that they “did not trade or supply” products and services to Venezuela.

In general, he highlighted that Venezuela received more than 502 direct coercive measures, 55% of them against public finances, the oil industry and the operations of the national government in areas such as the importation of food, medicine, basic supplies and spare parts.

On February 22, when Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the Donetks and Luganks republics, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, ratified the Government’s support for the Kremlin after considering that “the peace of Russia is the peace of the world”.
