Vice President inaugurates educational, community and energy management projects in the Cibao

Santiago, DR. – Schools, community development spaces, police infrastructure and projects to optimize electric power services were some of the projects delivered this Sunday by Vice President Raquel Peña in the Hermanas Mirabal and Santiago provinces.

The vice president’s day began in Los Guayos, Tenares, where the Cartagena Family Community Center was inaugurated, as well as the remodeling and expansion of the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús church.

The works were developed for an amount of RD$ 4,148,803.75 for the church and RD$ 14,950,773.09 for the community center. The latter is equipped with an office, medical dispensary, kitchen, bathrooms for men and women, area for dental office, storage and event hall for 200 people.

Education

Later, Raquel Peña moved to Navarrete, Santiago, to deliver to the communities of the aforementioned municipality the Gloria Beato Elementary School, which will house more than 900 boys and girls during their first years of academic training.

During the event, which was also attended by the Minister of Education, Ángel Hernández, the vice president highlighted that the Dominican educational system has begun to move forward, and with it, the dream of a more just and equitable nation is becoming a reality throughout the national territory.

Peña expressed that this is precisely the will of President Luis Abinader so that Dominican education does not stop until it reaches the highest quality standards, as has already been achieved.

For his part, the head of the Ministry of Education stressed that “every day, every week, the government makes a huge effort to continue advancing in the education sector” and emphasized that it is not only about facilities but also about guaranteeing quality education for all.

This school has 26 classrooms, a principal’s office, guidance office, infirmary, library, teachers’ lounge, court, playground, civic plaza, among other spaces.

Energy

On the other hand, with an investment of 222 million pesos, Raquel Peña inaugurated the repowering of the Nibaje and Don Pedro substations, works executed by Edenorte Dominicana.

The Vice President said that these projects represent a commitment to the well-being of the communities, to their daily lives and to their future.

Raquel Peña indicated that the government headed by President Luis Abinader is offering effective solutions to the needs of the Dominican population to continue improving access to essential services such as energy.

Meanwhile, Andrés Cueto, general manager of Edenorte, explained that, with the repowering of the two substations, the Northern Electricity Distribution Company benefits more than 92,325 families. He stated that this reinforces President Luis Abinader’s word that the electric service is optimal and of quality.

With the repowering of the Nibaje and Don Pedro substations, Edenorte adds 22 new MVA of power to the transformers, since, in the Nibaje Substation, it replaced a 37 MVA transformer with a 50 MVA one, providing 13 new ones.

Citizen security

During the event in Santiago, the Vice President also inaugurated the National Police detachment in the municipal district of El Limón, Villa González municipality, developed through the Presidential Commission for Provincial Development.

The facility has two levels, which include a men’s prison, a women’s prison, a DICRIM department, bathrooms, a waiting room, an office for receiving complaints, a ladies’ and men’s dormitory, a kitchen-dining room, a weapons storage room, and other spaces.

The Vice President was accompanied at the events by provincial authorities, businesspeople and municipal officials.
