La Vega, DR. – On Saturday, Vice President Raquel Peña developed a work agenda that included projects that will impact the lives of citizens in the Northern region in terms of health, education and sports.
“We are beginning a day of great importance for the province of La Vega. A day that once again demonstrates that our government, under the vision and leadership of our president Luis Abinader, remains committed to the comprehensive development of the Northern region and the entire Dominican Republic,” said Peña.
The Vice President also stressed that every investment in hospitals, sports, equipment and in improving needs means investing in the future of the localities and in the development of the Dominican Republic.
Nearest health services
Specifically, one of the investments in the health sector was for the renovation and expansion of the Dra. Armida García Municipal Hospital, inaugurated by the vice president together with the director of the National Health Service (SNS), Mario Lama.
In the expansion of the Armida García emergency room, new areas were created such as: four observation cubicles, a resuscitation box, triage, nursing station, emergency office, waiting room, dressings, sutures and nebulization.
The renovation also included 20 hospital beds, eight consulting rooms, a nursing station, dentistry, two operating rooms, two pre-surgical and post-surgical beds. In addition, there was a waiting room, ultrasound, triage, vaccination, laboratory, a delivery room, plaster, x-rays, four neonatal cribs, a cervocuna, an incubator, three observation cubicles and one gynecological cubicle, billing, laundry, medical breaks, administrative areas and a kitchen, for a total investment of RD$ 149,864,062.47 pesos.
This Saturday, the vice president and the head of the SNS also laid the groundwork to begin the expansion work on the hospitalization area of the Dr. Luis Morillo King Regional Hospital, with an investment of RD$142,411,633.02 pesos.
Dignifying sports facilities
On the other hand, the vice-president also handed over the La Llanada basement, in the municipal district of Tavera.
The project was built at a cost of RD$30,745,615 and responds to the Government’s vision of strengthening spaces that promote sports and healthy recreation in communities.
