Barahona, DR. – The Vice President of the Republic Raquel Peña delivered this Wednesday the renovated Teofilo Gautier Municipal Hospitalwhich will allow a timely response to the health needs of the inhabitants of the Las Salinas municipality, Barahona province.
This with an investment of over 39 million pesos in infrastructure and equipment.
The health center was left in operation by the National Health Service (SNS) to guarantee medical assistance in that town and surrounding communities.
Vice President Raquel Peña assured that the Dominican Government has promised to invest the necessary resources in the renovation and readjustment of hospitals, “and together with the National Health Service, we are fulfilling it throughout the country.”
“We have identified the health of our people as a fundamental pillar on which to work hard, aware that in all parts of the country; all Dominicans deserve to receive a quality health service; especially in such challenging moments, when some illness afflicts us or a member of our family, “said the coordinator of the Health Cabinet.
In his speech, the executive director of the SNSDr. Mario Lama, highlighted the President’s commitment to the people, to bring health to every corner of the country.
Lama: Teófilo Gautier Municipal Hospital was a historical debt
During the delivery of the renovated hospital, Lama explained that this center was a historical debt with the community; and now the more than five thousand residents of Salinas will have a new emergency room and its triage area; two observation cubicles, two fogging stations and a treatment area.
In addition, a waiting room, laboratory, sample collection, an operating room, a pre-surgical room and a post-surgical room, both with two beds; three double hospitalization rooms, sonography, neonatal and administrative areas.
Also, the hospital will have, for the first time, a medicine store and a waste shed. These two new constructions are complementary works that will allow the proper handling of supplies and waste, with a total infrastructure amount of RD 24,729,950.42 million.
Likewise, the SNS provided the health center facilities with new digital X-ray equipment, a transport ventilator, a defibrillator with a monitor and external paddles, as well as an anesthesia machine, a tabletop centrifuge, a three-channel sonograph, two cots of radiant heat and an industrial dryer, among other medical devices, for an amount of RD 14,897,324.09 million.
