Vevo, a service that offers high-definition music videos on YouTube, on Wednesday confirmed the hacking of the channels of several world-renowned artists and announced that they have launched an internal investigation.
the channels of Justin BieberDrake, Taylor Swift, Eminem, Kanye West and other singers were targeted in this hack on Tuesday.
A video of Paco Sanz, a Spaniard sentenced last year to two years in prison for falsely claiming to have terminal cancer and scamming anonymous people and celebrities, was broadcast for a few hours on the accounts of those celebrities.
Vevo removed the videos
“Those irregularly uploaded videos were removed by Vevo,” a spokesperson for the service told AFP.
Vevo, however, assures that the hackers did not have access to “any pre-existing content”.
“While artist channels are secured and the incident has been resolved, Vevo will review our security systems as part of our best practices,” the spokesperson added.
There was no immediate reaction
According to the same spokesman contacted by AFP, Youtube He didn’t react immediately.
Vevo became the victim of an apparent hack in April 2018. A year in which YouTube’s most popular music videos, including the global hit “Despacito,” briefly, albeit alarmingly, disappeared from the famed platform.
However, this time a video appeared whose title was “Justin Bieber – Free Paco Sanz (Ft. Will Smith, Chris Rock, Skinny Flex and Los Pelaos)”.
