This Wednesday, October 26, the Ministry of Health, as part of the Institutional Team, accompanied representatives of the International Organization of Migrants on a surveillance and control tour of the reception posts in Darién, as stated by Ivette Berrío, Deputy Minister of Health during the tour. that was verified in Lajas Blancas de Darién.
Currently, the Ministry of Health provides health care to migrants, not only in Darién, but also in the capital and in Chiriquí.
Berrío indicated that dealing with this irregular migratory flow through our territory is a very complex situation, since now the migrants are returning from Central America to try to return to their country and the vast majority are Venezuelans, which has forced the authorities to open a reception point in the capital.
He also expressed that the Ministry of Health maintains a care post in the first receiving community in Darien, with a team of doctors and nurses who evaluate the health situation of all the people who leave the Darien jungle.
“We call on the leaders of International Organizations, especially those of the IOM that are present, to continue supporting this humanitarian cause so that we can ensure that we continue to improve in all the work that the National Government, institutions and Organizations do together.
