Vente Venezuela denounces the arrest of two citizens in the state of Lara

The Human Rights Committee of the opposition political party Vente Venezuela (VV) denounced this Thursday the arrest of Alexis Guedez and Luz María Rodríguez in the state of Lara.

Through its X social network, the organization indicated that “officials from the Special Operations Group (GOES)” made the arrest on Monday. He assured that both were detained “due to the persecution and siege against their relative, a leader of Vente Venezuela”, whom – he points out – the government “intends to criminalize.”

V.V. He accused the Executive of intensifying political repression and stated that this case is part of a series of “more than 10 arbitrary arrests” registered in recent days in the states of Lara, Anzoátegui, Guárico and La Guaira.

He demanded the “cessation of the persecution” and asked the international community to “remain vigilant” in the face of what he described as “the arrest of innocent Venezuelans for the simple fact of thinking differently.”

The NGO Foro Penal sent a letter to Pope Leo XIV, in which it requested his “intervention” to promote the release of the political prisoners in Venezuela.

The organization indicated in a statement that as of October 13 it had counted 845 people deprived of liberty for political reasons, including 742 men and 103 women. Of that total, 841 are adults and 4 are minors.
