Venezuelans who have a Special Residency Permit will be able to validate their academic degrees in Colombia, as ordered by resolution 014448, dated July 25.

“For the validation of titles from Venezuela, the applicant must submit the documentary requirements demanded in articles 3, 4, 5 and 23 of this resolution, as the case may be, and the applications will be advanced in accordance with the provisions set forth herein”, informed the Ministry of Education of Colombia, according to a note from bluradio.

“When the applicant does not have a valid citizenship card, foreigner’s card or passport, they may provide the special residence permit or the temporary protection permit,” the resolution adds.

The information was also confirmed by Juan Guaidó’s Charge d’Affaires in Colombia, Eduardo Battistini.

“Good news for our Venezuelan brothers in Colombia. Those who have PPT (Temporary Protection Permit) will be able to validate their titles before @Mineducacion with this document. This according to Resolution 014448 (07/25/2022). Thank you, Colombia!” he said.

More than a week ago, Juan Francisco Espinosageneral director of Migration Colombia, presented the balance of the first year of the implementation of the Temporary Statute of Protection – Visible (ETPV), where it was shown that more than 2.4 million Venezuelans are based in the neighboring country.

The report, which has a cut-off date of February 28 of this year, would account for a 34% growth in the number of Venezuelans who arrived in Colombian territory in 6 months.

The official indicated that of the total number of Venezuelans living in Colombia, 51% are women between 18 and 49 years of age.

The percentage of children and adolescents of Venezuelan nationality who are in Colombia would be close to 15% of the total, that is, more than 600,000.

Regarding the cities with the largest number of Venezuelan citizens, Espinosa indicated that Bogotá heads the list with more than 495,000, followed by Medellín, with about 190,000. While Cúcuta has more than 167,000, Cali more than 121,000 and Barranquilla close to 113,000.
