“The Venezuelan people plan, execute and decide,” said the sector vice president and Minister of Popular Power of Planning, Ricardo Menendezby ensuring that in Venezuela planning is public and popular, in contrast to neoliberal models that have eliminated state bodies in this area.
“This is very important, especially when some liberal models even eliminate the planning ministries in some countries on this planet, they even eliminate the armed forces and the countries are left defenseless,” Menéndez warned the cameras. Venezuelan Television (VTV), during a new workshop on doctrine of planning and empowerment of popular power to consolidate the Communal Statedebated this Thursday in an intensive course at the Planning School, in Caracas.
For his part, the president of Institute of Applied Planning (IVPA)an entity attached to the aforementioned office, Camilo Riverostated that the new planning doctrine deepens participatory and protagonist democracy.
“We are transcending liberal representative democracy and we are deepening the concept of democracy, where the people are empowered by their democratic process to advance in the construction of the society we want,” he told VTV.
The authorities agree that decision-making by Popular Power is the key to the comprehensive development of communities, through National Consultations and the execution of projects that are identified by the communities themselves and that benefit the population.
This has made it possible to optimize collective problems with the communal bases that detect, plan and intervene in the works. In the workshop, citizens were invited to observe the problems and possible solutions from the collective and not from the individual, a method that will allow improvements in the territory and social development of the nation.
