The acting president Delcy Rodríguez reported that so far 406 people have been released as part of the process initiated in December by President Nicolás Maduro and assured that it remains open.
«The objective is to open political spaces. These are the objectives that the president set in December 2025 when 194 releases took place and as of today we can say that there are already 406 releases planned these days,” Rodríguez said at a press conference to national and international media from the Miraflores Palace.
He reiterated that it was a process initiated by the Venezuelan head of state “thinking precisely about opening spaces for understanding, for coexistence, for tolerance. We want to inform you that this process has not yet concluded, that process remains open and is precisely what we have been coordinating with the justice system in Venezuela.
Who receives the benefit?
The president in charge explained that some crimes are excluded from the benefit of release, so that it is public knowledge who could be released and who could not.
«This process has had parameters that have been attended to and people involved in serious crimes against the person, such as homicide, are excluded; The crime of drug trafficking is excluded. “Crimes related to the constitutional order, crimes related to hate, violence and intolerance are being assessed,” he stated.
Message of unity and respect
During the press conference, Rodríguez emphasized that this decision has been made for a month, in order to open “a new political moment that allows understanding from divergence and ideological political diversity, but it must be with respect for the other, it must be with respect for human rights.”
«Messages of hate, intolerance, actions of violence will not be allowed. Law enforcement will be strict. This opportunity is for Venezuela and for the Venezuelan people to see a new moment reflected, where coexistence, where coexistence, where the recognition of the other allows us to build and build a new spirituality,” he said.
Call to not fall into disinformation campaigns
The president in charge also called for “the truth to be reported, because there will always be those who want to fish in troubled waters, and we have always seen it,” which is why she rejected the lies against Venezuela.
«Organizations that charge the relatives of people deprived of liberty, famous organizations that are charging for the release of their relatives, their relatives, their friends. We say that this is a process that must be clean, that it is a process that must be devoid of provisions,” he denounced.
These statements were offered after a meeting that the president held with the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, and with the sectoral vice president of Politics and Citizen Security, Diosdado Cabello, who is in charge of coordinating with the security bodies.
