Venezuelan government rejects interventionist actions of the EU

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela issued a statement on Monday, in which it expressed its rejection of the act of interference carried out this Monday by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union (EU), Josep Borrel .

The statement ensures that the representative has participated in matters that are the exclusive responsibility of the Venezuelan Public Powers.

The information was released by the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Yván Gil, through his account on the social network Twitter.

The statement ensures that in recent years in their attempt to impose a “False President in our country, today they continue on the same path of failure, engaged in irrational and colonialist rhetoric towards the Constitutional Government.”

In this sense, Venezuela demands that the European Union “refrain from issuing interfering statements in order to preserve a reciprocal and respectful relationship.”

Here is the full statement:

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the statement attributed today to the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union (EU), Josep Borrell, which represents a new act of interference in matters that they are the exclusive competence of the Venezuelan Public Powers.

The European Union failed in recent years in its attempt to impose a False President in our country, today they continue on the same path of failure, engaged in irrational and colonialist rhetoric towards the Constitutional Government. More than 200 years ago, we Venezuelans kicked out imperialism from our land and began to follow the route of sovereignty. Venezuela does not accept guardianship from any power or group of countries aligned with imperial reminiscences.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterates to the Representatives of the European Union that the legality and legitimacy of the Venezuelan electoral process does not depend, nor will it depend, on any foreign actor, but rather on the decisions that the Venezuelan People decide sovereignly. In this sense, it requires refraining from issuing interfering statements in order to preserve a respectful reciprocal relationship.

This Monday, the EU issued an official note in which it expressed concern “over the decisions aimed at preventing members of the opposition from exercising their fundamental political rights, as has been the case of Maria Corina Machado and other political figures.

The note sent is due to the decision of the Comptroller General of the Republic, last Friday, to maintain the political disqualification of María Corina for a period of 15 years. The body accuses him of administrative irregularities and of being complicit in the serious corruption plot led by the opposition Juan Guaidó.
