In an interview with the Russian portal Sputnik, the Venezuelan foreign minister criticized NATO’s expansion towards Russia’s borders, an element that violates the Minsk Agreements.
He recalled that this regional entity was created with the aim of attacking the east and now it is no longer necessary, and “it should never have existed. It is an institution for wars, for attacks, for weapons, which promotes differences, wars and means death».
Placencia reiterated the Bolivarian government’s condemnation of the sanctions against Russia, which he described as unilateral and illegal.
“They are a violation of the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of the international community that cannot be accepted,” emphasized the head of Venezuelan diplomacy in his interview with Sputnik.
He stressed that Venezuela also suffers from unilateral sanctions and thanked the Eurasian nation for the support received, before which, he stressed, they will raise their voices against any measure that affects that country and its Government.
Meanwhile, he described his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, as a dear friend of this South American nation.
Regarding the recent meeting with his Russian counterpart, he explained that together they designed an agreement that protects the world energy market, while highlighting the role of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in regulating the world market.
He announced that Lavrov was invited to Venezuela, “we insist on the invitation. I hope you find time for this important visit. I’m sure this will happen soon.”
The foreign minister also emphasized the need for solidarity and integration in Latin America, as a way to move forward.
