According to the Havana government, the “yes” vote received 3,936,790 votes, 66.87% of those cast, while the “no” vote received 1,950,090 ballots, 33.13%.

“It was a vote for Cuba. It was a yes for Cuba. It was a yes for the Revolution,” Díaz-Canel said during a meeting with the dictatorship’s top brass.

“Yes won. Justice has been done. Approving the Family Code is doing justice. It is paying off a debt with several generations of Cuban men and women, whose family projects have been waiting for this Law for years. Starting today, we will be a better nation, ”he wrote shortly after on his Twitter social network account.

Another of the first to react was the first lady, Lis Cuesta Peraza. “Without a doubt, we are a great people. Cuba voted for its Family Code”, she also wrote on Twitter.
