Venezuelan Church seeks a miracle in Miami to canonize José Gregorio Hernández

The bishop of the Diocese of Guarenas did not want to give more details about this miracle that José Gregorio Hernández would have done


Monsignor Tulio Ramírez, bishop of the Diocese of Guarenas and who was vice-postulator for the Cause of canonization of Blessed José Gregorio Hernández, revealed that several high-ranking officials of the Venezuelan Catholic Church traveled to the city of Miami, in the United States, in order to to corroborate the veracity of a possible miracle of the so-called «Doctor of the Poor».

During an interview given to 2001Monsignor Ramírez commented that the Archbishop of Mérida and apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of Caracas, Cardinal Baltazar Porras, and Father Gerardino Barrachini, current vice-postulator for the canonization of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández, are in the American city to inquire about it. .

He clarified that he cannot offer more details in this regard to avoid harming the process, although he explained that the Miami case could be different from that of Yaxury Solórzano, the minor who was saved by José Gregorio Hernández and whose miracle worked on her gave the test to be called blessed.

Similarly, Monsignor Tulio Ramírez stressed that there are currently several open processes for Venezuelans to be beatified.

In early August 2021, Father Barrachini assured that the process so that the so-called “Doctor of the Poor” towards sainthood had begun and it was hoped that by 2022 the goal could be successfully reached.

On Friday, April 30, Dr. José Gregorio Hernández became the fourth Venezuelan blessed, after 75 years of open his cause. The beatification ceremony began at 10:00 in the morning at the La Salle school in Caracas and was presided over by the apostolic nuncio Aldo Giordano.

One year after the beatification of José Gregorio Hernández, a mass was held in the Vatican to celebrate this event. The ecclesiastical act was presided over by Father Arturo Sosa, general of the Society of Jesus.

Recently, the Santa Rosa Pontifical Catholic University held an act in that university, scheduled to take place from 2020, to award the title of “Magnificent Doctor” to the fourth Venezuelan blessed.
