The work was built by both countries in 2016 with an investment of 32 million dollars, but it was never put into service and in February 2019, in the midst of tensions with Colombia and the attempt to enter humanitarian aid by Juan Guaidó, president of the National Assembly elected in 2015 and considered by a part of the international community as president in charge of Venezuela, the Venezuelan Executive decided to put several containers in Tienditas and other bridges to block the passage.
