Venezuelan and Cuban exiles in Miami pray for the freedom of their countries

Miami/Hundreds of members of the Cuban and Venezuelan exile communities in Miami-Dade County gathered this Sunday at a Doral Church to participate in a day of prayer for the liberation of Cuba and Venezuela organized by the Assembly of the Cuban Resistance (ARC).

The activity, which combined a mass and moments of spiritual reflection, brought together faithful, civic and religious leaders in an act of unity and hope for the future of both countries, Orlando Gutiérrez, secretary general of ARC, told EFE.

The mass, celebrated under the motto Prayer for a free Venezuela and a free Cubawas held at the Presencia Viva Christian Church, in Doral, a city with one of the largest Venezuelan populations in the county.

Gutiérrez pointed out that the day was also called as a moment of reflection and faith for the freedom of “all countries held captive by dictatorship.”

Gutiérrez pointed out that the day was called not only in solidarity with “those within Cuba who have begun a day of prayer to save Cuba,” but also as a moment of meditation and faith for the freedom of “all countries held captive by dictatorship.”

The director of the coalition stated that “we feel in our hearts, we feel from what we see of the struggle of the Cuban people, that the moment of freedom for Cuba is approaching, but fundamental to that is to spiritually empower the people of Cuba in the refoundation of Cuba in Christ Jesus.”

The exile communities in Miami remain in expectation regarding the direction of Venezuela and Cuba after the US military operation on January 3 that culminated in the capture of the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, in Venezuelan territory and his transfer to New York to face charges related to drug trafficking.

“I prayed for the land where I was born, Cuba, with the hope that a new day will come, a new dawn for Cuba, where we can sit at a table, and freely give our opinion (…), and be able to vote for the ruler we want,” Eida Diego, one of the participating pastors, told EFE.
