Venezuela will stop testing covid-19 passengers entering the country

Juan Teixeira, president of the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics, reported that covid-19 tests will be carried out until December 31 at the country’s air terminals; procedure that added $60 to the costs of tickets to Venezuela

Until next December 31, covid-19 detection tests are carried out at Venezuelan airports; reported this Saturday, December 10, Juan Teixeira, president of the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC); during his participation in the Expo Transporte Venezuela 2022.

“As of December 31 of this year, the biosecurity protocol for covid-19 will eliminate the PCR test that we did at the airports to all the passengers who entered the country,” said the official.

Teixeira considered that this is good news for the air sector: with it, a tax charge will be removed from international tickets to Venezuela, which were charged about 60 dollars, due to the payment of the test to rule out the covid -19, which is done when entering the country’s air terminals.

“Having cheaper air tickets (…) Venezuela becomes more attractive as a tourist destination,” he stressed.

In March 2020, Venezuela suspended all international flights due to the covid-19 pandemic, a measure that the Government began to relax at the end of that year with some frequencies allowed under strict controls.

The Transport Expo Venezuela 2022organized by the government of Nicolás Maduro, is held from December 9 to 11, in the Simón Bolívar Park in La Carlota (Metropolitan Area of Caracas), it is an appointment to which national and foreign companies are invited to present innovations for the sector.
