The Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Relations, Yván Gil, reported that they will send a note of protest to the government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, for hiding the former opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia in that country’s embassy in Caracas.
“We are going to send a note of protest to the government of that country, because we should have been informed, according to international protocols, that Mr. González Urrutia was in the embassy since the day after the presidential elections on July 28. While the terror gangs were burning schools and hospitals, González Urrutia was in the embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands,” he added.
It was learned that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Caspar Veldkamp, confirmed through a letter that Edmundo González requested refuge in the Dutch diplomatic residence in Caracas from the day after the presidential elections on July 28, where he also indicated a prior planning of his departure from Venezuela, reports the portal of the state channel.
Veldkamp also mentioned that González decided to leave without consulting his political entourage, which caused confusion among María Corina Machado and other far-right opponents.
