The complaint of the political party coincides with the recent report of the UN Commission for Venezuela, which has confirmed the persistence of the “Crime for persecution for political reasons” In the country.

The UN said that given the inability of the national authorities to sanction these violations, the only hope of justice for the victims falls to the international community.

According to the NGO Criminal Forum, in Venezuela there are 823 political prisoners, the majority detained after the elections in which Nicolás Maduro was proclaimed reelected president, a result denounced as fraudulent by the opposition.
