“Venezuela is not going to sign any agreement with that sector of the Venezuelan opposition until it is 100% free of sanctions. Until the 765 do not rise unilateral coercive measures signed by Donald Trump and Barack Hussein Obama,” said the president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, on Thursday.
The affirmation is part of the words pronounced by Rodríguez in a event for the Day of Anti-imperialismheld in the Bolívar square in Caracas, on the 8th anniversary of the signing of the Executive Order that declared Venezuela an Unusual and Extraordinary Threat, on which imperialism has based the multiform aggression against the country.
“They wanted to erase the Bolivarian revolution from the face of the earth, but on the contrary they made us stronger, they made us more dignified, they made us more lovers of our independence, of socialism,” Jorge Rodríguez asserted.
The plan of imperialism failed
Likewise, the deputy warned that although North American imperialism presents two faces, “what it did with Venezuela was a true plan orchestrated by all the power factors of North American society to put an end to the Bolivarian revolution.”
In this regard, he highlighted the cruelty in the development of this plan, since they considered that the illness of Commander Chávez was an opportunity.
He explained that the plan started with the victory of the opposition in the National Assembly in 2015, and by Obama’s decree, to later surround all aspects of Venezuelan life. As proof that everything is part of this same action, he mentioned that all the 765 sanctions signed by Donald Trump indicate in their first paragraph that they are based on the executive order signed by Obama.
He said that this siege has meant “a multiform aggression, a true war”, while recalling that the US has organized destabilizing actions such as the blackout in 2019, and assassination attempts on President Maduro have been planned.
Despite this, he pointed out, the overthrow plan was defeated by the people of Venezuela, by the Venezuelan Armed Forces, and by President Nicolás Maduro.
Sanctions have allowed theft to Venezuela
Regarding the unilateral coercive measures, Jorge Rodríguez also recalled that they have allowed the theft of billions of dollars. Among others he mentioned $4 billion in Citgo profits, $2 billion in gold held at the Bank of England and $7 billion in reserves held at US and European banks.
On the other hand, he recalled that due to the blockade of the oil industry, Venezuela stopped producing 4 billion barrels. The amount of money that Venezuela failed to receive reaches 232 billion dollars. And he added that, since the sanctions were imposed, the country stopped receiving more than 630 billion dollars, while explaining that this happened because for the first time in the history of Venezuela, of every 100 dollars of oil, 98 were destined straight to town.
He pointed out that all these measures contravene international standards and conventions on trade and the economy, with the sole purpose of annihilating the Bolivarian revolution in its search for sovereignty, freedom and the right to manage its resources.
Breach of agreements
Regarding the Venezuelan oppositions, Rodríguez recalled his participation in the different dialogue processes. He recounted that, while the planet was plunged into uncertainty due to the covid-19 pandemic, President Maduro invited the representatives of the extreme right to postpone the diatribe and face together the fight for the health of the Venezuelan people. But they refused and used the pandemic as a mechanism to persist in the aggression, they stole shipments of face masks, and they refused to allow a fraction of the seized resources to be used to purchase medical supplies and vaccines.
Regarding the word of these opposition sectors, he referred to the signing of the social agreement in November 2022 to rescue three billion dollars from those social resources, which could not be fulfilled, since the response of the Biden administration was to send a letter to the UN saying that they did not guarantee the safety of those funds.
In this regard, he highlighted the lack of credibility of the opposition and its inability to comply with the agreements and the pledged word.
