The report presented by the National Electoral Council (CNE) before the National Assembly (AN), projects that the general population of Venezuela, as of April 30, 2025, will be in more than 33 million 350 thousand inhabitants.
The document, which was approved unanimously by Parliament, was presented by Deputy José Villarroel, who stressed that said figure can influence the distribution of deputies in the regions and circuits, without affecting the general total of parliamentarians.
He explained that article 162 of the Magna Carta indicates that legislators to the legislative councils are between 7 and 15, according to the representation of their population in the state and in the municipalities, the AN in its web portal refers.
While article 11 of the Organic Law of Electoral Processes indicates that all the inhabitants of the country are considered a population as indicated in the last national population census with the variations that are formally presented by the competent orders.
For his part, the deputy of the opposition block, José Gregoria Correo, insisted, during the debate, not to take this figure as an electoral reference, but is used to consider the social, cultural character and the redistribution of wealth.
