Venezuela thanks Russia for supporting the release of President Maduro

The government of Venezuela expressed its gratitude to Russia for the defense it has expressed of the principles of the United Nations Charter; This was highlighted by Foreign Minister Yván Gil after a meeting with the Russian ambassador to our country, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov.

The meeting served to discuss the bilateral relationship and the alliance of solidarity between our nations, reported on social networks.

“We also express our recognition of the firm rejection of Vladimir Putin’s government against the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and the first lady, Cilia Flores, an illegitimate act according to international law,” he added.

He highlighted the strategic alliance focused on cooperation within the framework of the High Level Intergovernmental Commission (Cian) and the Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Treaty.

During a plenary session in the Russian State Duma, focused on the debate on aggressions against Venezuela, The leader of the Communist Party, Gennadi Zyuganov, described it as “essential” to exhaust all efforts to achieve the release of President Nicolás Maduro and the first combatant and deputy Cilia Flores..

The parliamentary leader denounced that both are in “hostage” status under the administration of Donald Trump.

“It is necessary to free President Nicolás Maduro and the first lady, Cilia Flores, from the dungeons of American prisons,” Zyuganov urged categorically.

He reported on the formation of a special committee that works permanently on this case. In this sense, he formally proposed the integration of representatives of various parliamentary factions to consolidate a united front within the Russian legislative body.

The initiative was supported by the president of the State Duma, Viacheslav Volodin, who stressed the importance of maintaining a firm parliamentary position in the face of what he described as a systematic violation of international law and the sovereignty of independent States.

The information was disseminated by the Russian Embassy in Caracas through its official channels, highlighting the commitment of the Russian parliament in defending the political stability of Venezuela in the face of international pressures.

Kremlin demands explanations from Trump

The Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, declared this Wednesday that Moscow hopes to hear the explanations of the American president, Donald Trump, about the weapons that, according to him, “no one else has” and that were used in the aggression against Venezuela on January 3.

“We will have to listen to the explanations about what the president of the United States means,” said Peskov, underlining that the relevant Kremlin services are already working on collecting information and analyzing Donald Trump’s statements.

The North American president assured in an interview with a local media that Washington has “weapons that no one knows about,” in reference to an alleged “sonic cannon” used during the aggression against Caracas and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and the first combatant and deputy Cilia Flores.

In his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump boasted about the military operation: “Two weeks ago they saw weapons that no one had ever heard of. They couldn’t fire a single shot at us.” According to his account, the Venezuelan defense systems were “completely disorganized” and were unable to respond to the offensive.
