President Nicolás Maduro announced the immediate elimination of any agreement or negotiation for the supply of gas to Trinidad and Tobago, after becoming fully aware of the participation of this island country in the theft of Venezuelan oil, committed by the US administration on December 10.
Through an official statement, the National Government reiterated that “this act of piracy constitutes a serious violation of international law and a frank transgression of the principles of free navigation and trade,” while affirming that the measure responds to the “very serious fact that attempts to vulgarly steal Venezuela’s oil.”
He added that “the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, has revealed a hostile agenda against Venezuela since her arrival in government, including the installation of US military radars for the siege against the ships that transport Venezuelan oil”, highlighting that “this official has turned the territory of Trinidad and Tobago into a US aircraft carrier to attack Venezuela, in an unequivocal act of vassalage.”
“Faced with this escalation of hostilities and serious aggressions, President Nicolás Maduro Moros proceeded, at the time, to denounce the Energy Cooperation Framework Agreement signed with Trinidad and Tobago” – highlights the official statement.
Finally, he assured that “Venezuela respects itself and will not allow any colonial entity and its vassals to attack the sacred sovereignty of the country and its right to development. “Venezuela will always win.”
