Venezuela takes note of the Petro summit in Bogotá

The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, stated through a statement that the government takes note of the talks taking place in Bogotá at the International Conference on the Political Process in Venezuela.

In this sense, the official text expresses that Venezuela maintains its position on the lifting of “each and every one of the unilateral coercive measures” that the government has described as illegal and harmful to international law.

The statement goes on to state that this type of action “constitutes an aggression against the entire Venezuelan population” and “obstructs the development of the economic and social life of the country.”

Venezuela insists that the only way to advance in the political dialogue to which it committed itself at the Negotiation Table in Mexico, goes through the creation of a Social Fund for the release of resources retained abroad, which belong to the Venezuelan people.

He also insisted that for the dialogue to prosper, the Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab, detained in a prison in the United States, must be released.

Finally, the official text reflects on the fact that the development of countries cannot be subjected to constant aggression, coercion and threats. The Bolivarian government wishes for peace without aggression and with respect, to achieve the mutual benefit of all the peoples of the world.
