Venezuela supports China's proposal on global governance initiative

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on behalf of the Venezuelan people and government, supports the Proposal of the People’s Republic of China on the Global Governance Initiativepresented by President Xi Jinping in the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (OCS), held in Tianjin this September 1.

Through a statement published in the Official Telegram channel of Foreign Minister Yván Gil, where it is emphasized that “this new international project is linked to the three initiatives previously raised by China, global development, global civilization and global security, which point to the construction of a shared destination community for humanity, in full correspondence with the Bolivarian diplomacy of peace and the vision of universal balance.”

The text adds that “Venezuela reaffirms its support to the principles that inspire this proposal, such as the sovereign equality of states, respect for international law, the genuine practice of multilateralism, and an approach focused on the well -being of peoples.”

Then, it is highlighted “the importance that this initiative has for our region, by strengthening the Peace Zone of Latin America and the Caribbean, proclaimed in 2014, as a fundamental space to consolidate stability, cooperation and regional integration.”

Finally, Venezuela rejects “all forms of interventionism and unilateral coercive measures, and reiterates its commitment to equity, international justice and the construction of a more just, solidary and peaceful world order.”
