The Government of President Nicolás Maduro spoke this Wednesday, December 25, to send its condolences to the people of Azerbaijan, after the accident of a commercial flight on the Azerbaijan-Russia route, and crashed in Kazakhstan early this day.
Foreign Minister Yván Gil, through your Telegram account expressed “We join the mourning that overwhelms the people of Azerbaijan in the face of the unfortunate Aktau plane crash. From Venezuela we extend our sincere words of condolence to the family and friends of the victims of the accident and we pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
This Wednesday, an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane crashed near Aktau, in western Kazakhstan, after deviating from its scheduled route. About three kilometers from its intermediate destination, Aktau, it made an emergency landing that resulted in a tragic outcome.
The aircraft, an Embraer 190, was carrying 67 people, of whom 32 managed to survive, as confirmed by local authorities.
According to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport, the aircraft had 62 passengers and five crew members on board. Among the passengers were 37 citizens of Azerbaijan, six from Kazakhstan, three from Kyrgyzstan and 16 from Russia.
