Venezuela seeks to consolidate mutual cooperation with Asean

Venezuela reviewed on Tuesday the results of the tour of the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN): Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia in order to promote economic commitments, supported by the progress experienced by the country, and achieve mutual cooperation with the Asian bloc.

Among these, the interest shown in Venezuela by the countries of the bloc stands out during the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad) held in Geneva. The ASEAN countries showed interest due to the prosperity and growth experienced by the country in recent months, progress that they describe “as an economic miracle.”

The information is released after meeting between the Vice Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, Capaya Rodríguez, with the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Foreign Trade, Johann Álvarez, outlined in a note of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, the areas of economy, trade and investment were discussed, as well as the commitments made in each of the Asean countries, “both at the government level and with the chambers of commerce and industry, with the aim of promoting the national productive plan, in accordance with what was instructed by the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.

Conference to Heads of Embassies

The Vice Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, Capaya Rodríguez, proposed holding a conference for the Heads of Mission of the Embassies of the ASEAN countries accredited in Caracas, by Vice Minister Álvarez «with the intention of promoting Venezuela as the best country in the world, by virtue of the remarkable economic progress it is currently experiencing.

Asean: Interest in Venezuela

For his part, the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Johann Álvarez, highlighted the interest shown by the Asean countries in Venezuela, during the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad) in Geneva, due to the prosperity and growth experienced in recent months, progress that they describe “as an economic miracle.”

For the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, “in Asia are located the countries with the greatest stability and economic growth”, for which he considers the exchange between Venezuela and the Asean countries to be important.

Promote national products

In order to establish an exchange that benefits both Venezuela and the Asean countries, a “technical cooperation and knowledge of the tariff regulations of each nation must be established, in order to promote Venezuelan products, effectively increase trade relations, encourage a balance between imports and exports, and attract much-needed foreign investment,” Álvarez said.

Work for the approximation of Venezuela and Asean

With a view to formalizing the authorization for Venezuela’s accession to the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), both Venezuelan officials established a commitment to work together to promote rapprochement with the Asen countries.

The commitment is to work “to further promote the country’s approximation to Asean and achieve in the near future the authorization of the ten nations that make up the bloc for Venezuela’s accession to the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC). », referred to the note from the Foreign Ministry.
