The Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, announced through her social networks that on Saturday, August 27, 160 new infections of covid-19 were recorded, of which four are imported: three from Panama and one from Turkey, all with entry by the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía.
Rodríguez highlighted that, of the 156 cases of community transmission, the state where the largest number of new infections was detected is Mérida (67), with active infections in five municipalities. Followed by Lara (23), Miranda (19), Zulia (17), Bolívar (13), Caracas (7), La Guaira (Vargas 5), Aragua (2), Yaracuy (2) and Delta Amacuro (1).

With these figures and 895 days after the first cases of the disease were detected on March 13, 2020, Venezuela registers a total of 542,199 infections and 534,443 people who have recovered from the virus, which according to official numbers represents a 99% overcoming of the illness.
According to the vice president, there are currently 1,962 active cases, of which 55 are treated in the public network of hospitals; 48 in the Comprehensive Diagnostic Centers (CDI), 56 in private clinics and 1,803 people who are in home isolation or “supervised community care”.
No deaths were recorded on Saturday, which is why the total number of deaths remains at 5,794.
