This Saturday, the deputy for the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Gabriela Peña, took advantage of her speech at the XVI Congress of the Polisario Front to renew Venezuela’s support for the Saharawi people at critical moments of the conflict with Morocco.
On the second day of sessions of the meeting, the representative of the PSUV announced a joint communication strategy to unify voices in common interests of independence and sovereignty, reports the Prensa Latina portal.
In the Wilaya of Dakhla, in the area of the Western Saharan refugee camps in Algerian territory, the parliamentarian stressed that the setting “allows us to ratify that Venezuela supports the cause of this noble, courageous and irreducible people, in their tireless struggle for the defense of its independence and sovereignty.
He regretted that despite this delicate situation, there have been no pronouncements from the United Nations Organization (UN) regarding the escalation of the conflict by Morocco, with the rupture of the ceasefire on November 13, 2020.
Next May, the Polisario will celebrate 50 years of unrelenting battle in defense of its people against the Moroccan occupation “and this Congress plans to confront this fact through armed struggle,” Peña commented.
He recalled that Venezuela continues to be a country attacked with more than 700 coercive measures implemented by the United States and other powers that impacted the economy and social advances in health and education, “but with an unwavering will we continue to build socialism.”
