The National Government categorically rejected the arrival and eventual operation of the FPSO One Guyana ship in the so -called Stabroek block, as it is an illegal action in a maritime area pending for delimiting, where Venezuela maintains historical and legitimate rights.
Through a statement, disseminated by Foreign Minister Yván Gil, the Venezuelan State denounced that this maneuver is “promoted by the Guyana government in alliance with Exxonmobil.”
What “constitutes a violation in fundamental principles of international law, which force them to refrain from adopting unilateral measures in areas without agreed delimitation”, and, in turn, “Guyana demonstrates an open contempt for international legality and for the commitments assumed in the Armyle Agreement of 2023, putting at risk the peace and regional stability in a reckless way,” he warned.
In this sense, the letter expresses that Venezuela does not recognize any granting granted in said space and warns the companies involved that they may be subject to legal actions, and that no right will be recognized on the illegally exploited resources.
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reaffirm its vocation of peace, but will firmly exercise the defense of its sovereign rights and will not accept provocations or consummate facts,” concludes the text.
