The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela repudiated this Tuesday a new attempt to politicize the migratory situation registered in the country, by international organizations.
Through a statement, the country expresses its rejection of the call for the “International Conference in Solidarity with Venezuelan Refugees and Migrants and their host countries and communities”, scheduled for this month.
In this conference, organized by Canada and the European Union, the
UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Faced with this situation, Venezuela points out that the activity aims to “research huge
amounts of money, in addition to being a hostile event against our countryis perceived as a show that only serves the commercial interests of some of its participants, who in similar calls have administered the resources in an opaque manner and without any effective accountability to the public opinion they are trying to manipulate,” the statement said.
In the text, it is recalled that Venezuela is subjected to more than 900 coercive measures and that, despite this aggression, the country implemented the Plan Vuelta a la Patria, for the return of Venezuelan migrants who have been victims of xenophobia, attacks, or for other reasons.
“The Bolivarian Government denounces, once again, the politicization of the international organizations responsible for migration, as well as the manipulation and shameless disregard for scientific rigor in the handling of migrant figures, which constitutes an attack against the rights inherent to human mobility and moves these institutions away from the mandate that has been granted to them within the United Nations Organization”, the text points out.
