Venezuela rejects any coercive measure that violates human rights

Venezuela reiterates its rejection of any coercive or illegal measure that violates the human rights of the population, said the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, on Tuesday, during the presentation of the report and account of the Executive Cabinet of the National Government, before the Assembly National.

“Venezuela takes advantage of this forum to reject the economic sanctions that violate the rights of the people,” he said.

The vice president explained that the sanctions, specifically, sought total suffocation in Venezuela, “not only financial,” she emphasized.

In this sense, he explained that Venezuela received more than 502 direct coercive measures, the majority in public finances.

The measures attacked «25% in finance, in oil 22%. As a whole, they were not only looking for financial suffocation. The health sector represents 10% of this conglomerate, food 7%, private sector 7% and public services severely affected », he pointed out.

Specifically, 55% of the measures were against public finances, the oil industry and the operations of the National Government, such as the importation of food, medicine, basic supplies and spare parts.

Similarly, he referred to the overcompliance of sanctions, that is; that many countries decided to issue direct sanctions against Venezuela, due to the fear of a repercussion against it.

Proof of this is the theft of 31 tons of gold from the Bank of England.

“There is no express sanction, but for overcompliance the Bank of England is robbed. This also allowed the overcompliance of the embargo on medicines and food », he stated.

“Medications have been seized and confiscated when they were declared the last destination in Venezuela,” added the Executive Vice President.

He recalled that the coercive measures against the country began in 2013.

“In the year 2007 to 2013, Venezuela 57,000 million dollars, and from 2013 to the recent one, Venezuela was excluded from the financial markets, it was excluded from the Swift system and between the years 2014-2021 502 unilateral coercive measures are executed,” he explained. .

High mobilization costs

During the balance before the National Assembly (AN), the Executive Vice President pointed out that the strong sanctions caused the high costs of mobilization to rise.

He gave as an example the cost of mobilizing Venezuelan crude.

“When Venezuela sells Venezuelan crude, our sales costs represent 25% of the crude price. Venezuela has to pay 25% for the sale of its crude, that is, 1 of 4 dollars is destined to cover the mobilization and commercialization of oil. The costs for the mobilization can reach up to 15% ”, he stressed.

“We wanted to bring this data so that our people are aware of the barbarity, of how savage this criminal blockade against our country can represent,” he added.

In this regard, he pointed out that the sanctions are aimed at the “illegitimate appropriation” of Venezuelan resources.

“It is a new industry that through the clothing of sanctions means the illegitimate appropriation of a country’s resources,” he said.

2021: Year of inflection and recovery

2021, for its part, became the year of economic growth and recovery, which was strongly affected by the economic and financial blockade, in addition to the pandemic situation.

«2020 was the year of the intensification of the criminal blockade. And 2021 is the year of inflection, of recovery and progress”, he stated.

In this sense, he explained that in 2021, a strong recovery of public services was also achieved.

For this reason, he highlighted the efforts of the workers to guarantee a good system of public services in the midst of the blockade.

“In 2021, we were able to recover 21% of the capacity of our electrical system, 18% in water distribution, 19% in gas distribution, and 31% in gasoline distribution,” he stressed.
