Venezuela reaffirms its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia

206 years from Boyacá, Caracas ratifies validity of the Bolivarian ideal

The Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, released a statement in which he expressed that Venezuela recognizes the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Somalia within its internationally accepted borders. In the text, he categorically rejects any unilateral action aimed at recognizing separatist entities within Somali territory.

The document, published by the Minister of Foreign Affairs through his Telegram channel, states that the Venezuelan nation acts in the exercise of its sovereign foreign policy. Committed to the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, Venezuela reiterates that territorial integrity is inviolable and constitutes the basis for peace in the Horn of Africa.

Likewise, Caracas adheres to the resolutions of the UN Security Council and the decisions of the African Union that support the sovereignty of said nation.

The African Union This Friday he expressed his rejection of the diplomatic recognition of Somaliland by Israel.

“The President of the African Union Commission, His Excellency Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has taken note with deep concern of the recent events related to Somaliland,” says the document published on the X social network.

​Youssouf firmly rejects any initiative aimed at recognizing Somaliland as an independent entity and recalled that said territory remains an integral part of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
