The Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, held a meeting with the president of the Presidential Transition Council (CPT) of Haiti, Leslie Voltaire, to whom he reaffirmed Venezuela’s commitment to supporting the Caribbean people.
“On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, we held a meeting with the President of the Presidential Transition Council of Haiti, Leslie Voltaire, during which we reaffirmed the friendship between our nations and Venezuela’s firm commitment to supporting the brother Caribbean country in its social development. and in their right to self-determination,” Gil wrote in his social networks this Monday night.
Leslie Voltaire took office as president of the CPT of Haiti on October 7, replacing Edgard Leblanc Fils. The CPT is an entity created in April of this year and its objective is to restore democratic order and stop the violence that plagues the Caribbean country.
Earlier this Monday, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister arrived in Colombia to participate in the United Nations Conference on Biodiversity (COP16).
Gil indicated that at this event they will present Venezuela’s progress, challenges and goals in the preservation of biodiversity, “with a special focus on the Amazon basin,” he said.
