Venezuela promotes an education that responds to what is productive during the World Meeting on Vocational Technical Education and Training, held this Tuesday in Bonn-Germany, and organized by UNESCO.
“In Venezuela we are promoting an education that responds to what is productive, we need to boost the economy and advance in training, training youth, and guaranteeing that all sectors and new skills have training,” said the Vice Minister of Communities at the meeting. Educativas y Unión con el Pueblo, Wuikelman Angel, part of the delegation from the Ministry of Education that attended the international event to socialize the country’s progress in terms of professional technical training.
During the World Meeting on Vocational Technical Education and Training, held in Bonn-Germany, the actions that countries must take to promote vocational technical training and its contribution to sustainable development are discussed.
In his speech, Angel, who is also president of the National Institute for Training and Socialist Education (Inces), stressed that in Venezuela there is the “challenge of linking the educational system with the vocational training system, that is, linking education to the world of work.”
Accompaniment and recognition of Unesco
He acknowledged the support that Venezuela has received from the United Nations Educational OrganizationScience and Culture (Unesco), support through which the multilateral organization recognizes, tangentially, the management of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, refers to a note from the Inces.
In this sense, Angel pointed out that “we have signed an agreement with UNESCO, which has allowed the accompaniment to promote education and technical training in the country.”
Likewise, he added that “UNESCO accompanies us in the effort to guarantee the inclusion of youth and development of capacities and comply with the Sustainable Development Goals.”
For the national government, said Angel, it is state policy to involve youth in all development processes and economic growth that the country requires.
This is how the Vice Minister and President of Inces continued, as the National Executive approved the incorporation of technical training in the diversified cycle, “even when there is no formal link between the educational system and the Vocational Technical Education and Training subsystem (TVET). )».
After this action, 180,000 young people have been trained and certified and 40,000 teachers, “who demonstrated that they have the knowledge, skills and abilities to carry out a productive occupation.”
To conclude, Angel made a call to develop campaigns that allow “to balance what we have in the cultural imaginary against university degrees, and the importance and quality of education and professional technical training.”
“We must change the vision of Professional Technical Training Education, and ensure that the academic and professional sector includes and values the productive practices of Professional Technical Training Education,” he added.
Technology and regional particularities
At the international meeting held in Germany, the importance of responding to two variables was explained: first, the need to advance at the pace set by technology, both in emerging and traditional productive occupations; and secondly, that all training responds to regional particularities and the potential for economic development of each geographical area.
Faced with this scenario, Angel stressed: “We must build standards, achieve the purposes of mastery of abilities and skills, but we must appreciate the particularities of the regions, of the countries.”
