As part of the second intellectual property meeting, representatives of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Delegations of Experts from Cuba, China and Russia, national and international guests, enjoyed the sensory experience in which they could appreciate the nuances in texture and taste of native products from the vast national food biodiversity.
Venezuela showed its potential for flavors and tradition in various tastings of items with protected geographical indication (PGI) and denomination of controlled origin (DOC), in which experts of intellectual property of the world participated, who expressed their satisfaction for the quality and presentation of the Cocuy de Lara, Margariteñ Lara goat cheese, as well as the wide variety of coffees, cacaos and rums produced in various regions of the country.
The distinctive PGP and DOC signs granted to these products by the Ministry of Popular Power of National Commerce, through its dependent body, the Autonomous Service of Intellectual Property (SAPI), guarantees its link with the specific geographical area; Its ancestral qualities and production methods, characteristics that open the doors to the international market, in accordance with the provisions of the Plan of the Patria 2025-2031.
In this way, the head of state democratizes intellectual property, so that it is not an instrument of elites, but a tool at the service of the economic, scientific and cultural growth of the nation.
