The Minister of Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez and Authorities of India, paid tribute to the celebration of the 156th anniversary of the birth Mahatma Gandhi and the day of non -violence. The act was held in the Caricuao parish, Caracas.
During his speech, Ñáñez said that the pacifist leader was a fundamental piece in the independence of India, while promoting peaceful resistance and non -violence.
He also reflected that Gandhi’s passage through South Africa was essential to decide and dedicate his life to the fight against injustice.
“The idea of an interconnected universe, mediation as a way of knowledge, the ethics of detachment, the vision of nature as something sacred, all that the West would discover centuries later, was born in India,” added the also sector vice president of communication and culture.
Ñáñez recalled that he founded the Congress party and began the fight against racism and discrimination suffered by the Indian population.
“By paying tribute to Gandhi, we must also pay tribute to that millenary land that gave birth to a model of civilization focused on transcendental wisdom,” he said.
