The Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, on behalf of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, said that Venezuela deeply regrets the death of Abelardo Moreno Fernández, a leading Cuban diplomat and indisputable reference of the peace diplomacy in favor of the fair causes.
The information was disseminated by the Foreign Minister through a publication on his Telegram channel where he explained that since the 1959 revolutionary triumph, Moreno Fernández was a key figure in Cuban diplomacy, recognized for his ability to establish constructive dialogues and forge strategic alliances. He tirelessly advocated solidarity, multilaterality, Latin American unity and the self -determination of peoples, defending with passion the social and economic achievements of Cuba and denouncing the criminal US blockade.
He was one of the main propellants of the Non -Aligned Country Movement (MNOAL) and CELAC, converting both organizations into fundamental mechanisms in the struggle of the Global South Peoples.
«His departure leaves a vacuum in Cuban diplomacy and among those who fight for a fairer world. Rest in peace, ”Gil concluded.
