The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expressed its deepest solidarity with the people of the United States (USA), especially with the communities of the Texas and New Mexico states, severely affected by the recent floods that have left a tragic balance of victims, missing and material damage of great magnitude.
Through an official statement released by the Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, Venezuela transmitted his condolences for human losses and devastating consequences of this natural disaster. “We extend our solidarity to affected families, particularly those in rural areas and children’s camps that have suffered forced evacuations and severe material damage,” says the text.
Torrential rains caused the overflow of rivers such as Guadalupe, in Texas, where more than a hundred dead and dozens of missing people have been reported. In New Mexico, sudden floods also wreaked havoc in vulnerable communities, forced mass evacuations, after thousands of inhabitants ran without access to basic services.
This gesture adds to the support expressions that various countries have expressed before the tragedy, at a time where international solidarity becomes a bridge of humanity in the face of the challenges of climate change and natural disasters.
