Venezuela has two blocks of strength in the development of science and technology for life, through more than 850 thousand boys, girls and young people in the Scientific Seedbeds programand the great Scientific Movement Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán, which already has 67 thousand scientific specialists “hardened and trained in applied life sciences,” highlighted the president Nicolás Maduro Moros.
During his participation in the ceremony celebrating the first anniversary of the National University of Sciences, «Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán»the head of state highlighted that, 80 years ago, the floodgates were opened to end the world ruled by empires and kings, and with the help of Russia, China, Iran, Vietnam, Cuba and other allied nations, a process of scientific and technological cooperation without parallel has been established.
“Today, humanity has simply said enough to the imperialist colonialist form and this is in the presence, for the first time in 14 thousand years of human presence, the multipolar world, without colonialism.”
He asserted that this is the century to develop the true independence of knowledge, which is and will be, increasingly, the liberation of the mind, of education, of culture, of the greatest human instrument ever developed, of the generation of science and technology.
“They are two impressive blocks of force, it is like a tsunami of general will, it is like a tsunami of collective consciousness, it is like a gigantic tsunami of knowledge and science for the good of humanity, in this case, for the good of our society.”
Likewise, he considered that the National University of Sciences «Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán” is like the bridge and the interconnection vehicle between the Scientific Hotbed, which is the Venezuela of the future of the entire 21st century.
Jiménez: Creation and technique for peace
For her part, the Minister of Popular Power for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jimenezthanked the national leader for this scientific impulse, and called him the father creator of this initiative that manages to transcend from a classic faculty of sciences that was the model inherited from the fourth Republic, to a university for sciences that responds to the rationality of life, which also positions Venezuelan youth in creation and technology.
The university has more than 1,800 students, from all states of the country, and includes Guayana Esequiba, with 250 teachers and 16 training programs, and also with transversal approaches in philosophy and bioethics. “Because we recognize the scientific exercise as a dialogue, as a collective, collaborative construction, we then recognize the development from territorial development in our university and the knowledge economy.”
He reported that, thanks to presidential instructions, six international cooperation agreements have been signed with universities that are positioned among the 100 most important universities in the world and that link Venezuela with more than 700 thousand scientists internationally.
Within the University of Science, there are researchers, representatives of research centers, engineers, scientists, philosophers, anthropologists, geographers and representatives of the Great Young Venezuela Mission and the Military Scientific Council of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB). “Because science also contributes to the security of our nation and always guarantees peace as a strategy of well-being and national sovereignty.”
Finally, Jiménez commented that it is necessary to recognize that science and technology are a disputed territory and that issue has been discussed in classrooms, so bioethics and the exercise of ethics, with conscience, must be a daily work of the Venezuelan scientific community.
