The Association of Southeast Asian Nations is an intergovernmental organization of Southeast Asian states, created on August 8, 1967 by five countries: Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.

Ferdinand Marcos Junior, 64 years old, became the next president of the country, obtaining more than 30.8 million votes in the elections held on Monday, May 9, with more than 97% of the ballots counted. international agencies.

The elections in which Marcos won proceeded normally and transparently, according to electoral observers.

His late father, Ferdinand Marcos, was overthrown in an uprising in 1986 after holding power with an iron fist for two decades.

The vice-presidential running mate of the Philippines is Sara Duterte, daughter of current President Rodrigo Duterte. Marcos Jr. will replace the current President at the end of June.

The presidential succession is scheduled for June 30 for a single six-year term.
