Venezuela exposed the truth about migrant workers to the UN

This Wednesday, the State agent before the International Human Rights System, Larry Devoe, described as successful the participation of the Venezuelan delegation before the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on migrant workers and their families, since it managed to show the world the truth of what is happening in Venezuela in the context of the more than 700 illegal coercive measures applied against the country, as well as the response of the Venezuelan State in this regard.

«The balance is successful. We have brought the truth about Venezuela to the world and we were able to show what Venezuela is doing from its jurisdiction. It was a frank, respectful, open and sincere dialogue. The UN authorities showed great interest in knowing the impact of the coercive measures that affect the human rights of the Venezuelan population,” he said in statements offered from Geneva, Switzerland, the venue for the meeting, at the end of the meetings to defend the position of Venezuela regarding the report of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNCHR).

He stressed that this impact of the sanctions was the central axis of the debate and that the high authorities of the UNCHR must know more information about this affectation to determine whether or not they support the actions that the Venezuelan State has carried out as a form of protest.

More actions in defense of the truth of Venezuela

Continuing with the actions in defense of the truth in Venezuela, the delegation representing Venezuela at the 35th meeting of the Human Rights Committee of Migrant Workers and their Families, made up of representatives of the five public powers of the country, will record additional responses in writing that will complement their defense before the country report made by this committee.

This was reported by the Minister for the Social Labor Process, Francisco Torrealba.

“It has been two days of very intense sessions where the Republic of Venezuela has clearly stated its considerations regarding the disastrous consequences of unilateral coercive measures that have illegal and genocidal characteristics against the people of Venezuela,” he said.

He added that they made it clear that the coercive measures against Venezuela are unfair, as well as the consequences they have had on the population, in the world of work and on the migrants who have been induced to leave their country.

On the other hand, Larry Devoe reported that the next step, after defending his position regarding the report on Venezuela and consigning the additional answers, will be to wait for the final observations and recommendations of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) regarding to the guarantees of the human rights of foreigners in Venezuela and compatriots in other countries.

He explained that later a process of implementing these measures will begin in the country so that, after several years, he will return to this meeting and give an account of the national human rights scenario.

Venezuela asked to guarantee the rights of migrants

At the close of its participation in the 35th meeting of the Human Rights Committee of Migrant Workers, the delegation representing Venezuela asked that the rights of Venezuelan migrants be guaranteed, especially those in Brazil and the United States.

“We ask that the rights of migrants be guaranteed and that the guarantees that have to do with their identification be protected, since it is not fair that the children of Venezuelans who are born in Brazil cannot be registered, or that Venezuelans in the US cannot can exercise the right to vote,” said the Labor Minister Francisco Torrealba.

He also explained that during the meeting they asked to assume as new practices humanist projects such as the Plan Vuelta a la Patria to enable the return of Venezuelans in a simple way, especially those who have suffered from xenophobia.

“We take the opportunity to denounce that there are organizations that have manipulated the figures of Venezuelans who have migrated,” he explained.
