The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejected this Friday the resolution approved by the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council, which renews the mechanism, called the “Fact Finding Mission” in the country.
Through a statement, published on the website of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs; Venezuela points out that “this Resolution is the result of the shameful double standards, the selectivity and the politicized use of the mechanisms of the Human Rights Council by a minority group of States, which obediently follow the dictates of the Government of the United States of America , in his obsessive interest in attacking the Venezuelan democratic institutions».
In this sense, Venezuela indicated that it will take the necessary political and diplomatic measures in the face of attempts to promote this mechanism, which threatens the sovereignty and self-determination of peoples.
Similarly, he pointed out that this mechanism, approved this Friday with 19 votes in favor and five against; “violates the Charter of the United Nations, the relevant resolutions of the General Assembly and the institution-building package of the Human Rights Council, among other relevant instruments.”
In this regard, he reiterated his willingness to work with various UN human rights mechanisms.
Venezuela “will continue to cooperate with the Human Rights Council, based on strict adherence to the principles of objectivity, non-selectivity, non-politicization, impartiality and constructive dialogue in the treatment of human rights issues,” the text states.
“Venezuela reiterates that it does not recognize and will not recognize any protection mechanism created outside the principles of international law, which seeks to violate the independence, sovereignty and self-determination of the Venezuelan people,” the text concludes.
