Venezuela denounces induced migration at the UN as a result of sanctions

Venezuela denounced this Thursday before the United Nations Organization (UN) the rape to the conditions of existence and production of Venezuelans who leave the national territory, generating an induced migration based on the attack on the country’s economy through sanctions.

The complaint was made by the president of the National Institute Against Racial Discrimination (IncodirPrev), Jesús Escobar, during his speech before the UN, in which he stressed that Venezuelan migration has been “artificially created.”

“Intervention in @ONU_es by Prof. @escobarincodir, Pdte. from @IncodirPrev: “The mobilization of Venezuelans outside the homeland, the result of an induced and artificially created migration, based on the attack on the national economy,” published the National Institute Against Racial Discrimination (IncodePrev) on Twitter.

ideology of racism

For the president of the National Institute Against Racial Discrimination (IncodirPrev), Jesús Escobar, transnational migration is due to “the conditions of existence, production and reproduction of life”, which are constantly violated.

In this sense, he explained that this is due to “the ideology of racism and its political economy as colonial expressions of possibility for human existence,” Escobar said on the social network.

“On Transnational Migration: the conditions of existence, production and reproduction of life are constantly violated as part of the ideology of racism and its political economy as colonial expressions of possibility for human existence,” said IncodirPrevención on the social network.

Likewise, Escobar stressed that this colonial heritage has been reissued both in the north and in the south, with their clear differences.

“This legacy of coloniality has tended to be repeated in various periods of history, both in the Global North and in the Global South, although with clear differences in form rather than substance,” he said.

Negative effect of sanctions denounced before the UN

Escobar emphasized in his intervention before the UN that starting from a supposed failed State, the negative effect of the sanctions imposed against Venezuela by the United States government has been evidenced, which somehow generated the induced departure of Venezuelans.

“Based on the thesis of the alleged failed State, derived from the 5th generation multiform warfare, in conjunction with the biological warfare that unleashed the Covid-19 health emergency, the devastating influence that criminal, illegitimate and arbitrary actions have had is undeniable. unilateral coercive measures, against Venezuela”, indicated Escobar.

Evidently, Escobar added, these sanctions and measures against Venezuela have diminished the State’s ability to obtain financial resources, goods and services, which has a negative impact on the population by not being able to cover the main needs.

“The criminal, illegitimate and arbitrary unilateral coercive measures, which have reduced the State’s ability to obtain financial resources, goods and services required to fully cover and satisfy the main needs of its inhabitants,” he added.

Venezuela: host country for migrants

Faced with this situation experienced by Venezuelans who are outside their homeland, Escobar stated that “yesterday and today, Venezuela has traditionally been a country of reception for migrants, both from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and our own Latin America and the Caribbean”.

He stressed that “for generations, migrants from all over the world have been welcomed with open arms in our country, where they have settled, and have found a new Homeland.”

In addition, he added and stressed that the migrants from around the world who came to the country “have never been victims of #discrimination, #xenophobia, #persecution, #exploitation, trafficking or slavery or similar crimes.”

“Our State and People welcome and protect them with integration and social inclusion policies that guarantee their fundamental human rights. It is an ethical, political and constitutional commitment to which we will always stand firm, ”he indicated.
