Regarding the International Day against Unilateral Coercive Measures, the Government of Venezuela demands the elimination of the 1,042 that the United States Government has imposed to block the country in its constant siege against the nation.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, on behalf of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, spoke at the 80th period of sessions of the United Nations Organization, via videoconference.
In the material disseminated through his Telegram account, the chancellor demanded the elimination of the Unilateral Coercive Measures, as well as denounced the US military threats that loom over Venezuela.
He said that the country raises its voice to denounce the 1,042 criminal coercive measures imposed against the Venezuelan nation.
He recalled that these illegal sanctions seek to break the will of a nation that has chosen the path of sovereignty under the leadership of President Nicolás Maduro.
He cataloged these sanctions as irrational, illegitimate and illegal and reiterated that they violate human rights.
He indicated that these measures not only impact the Venezuelan people, but have also interrupted solidarity and cooperation programs such as PetroCaribe, which benefited the entire region.
It should be noted that this date was approved by the United Nations General Assembly, as an initiative of the Group of Friends in Defense of the United Nations Charter, in order to preserve the values of the body.
He pointed out that the main Western powers, the United States and the European Union, have “used unilateral coercive measures” to try to impose narratives, their politics and domination on countries around the world.
The chancellor recalled that due to these measures, Venezuela lost 99% of its income in 2017; However, the national leader along with his government team have overcome the sanctions, and 18 quarters of sustained economic growth have been achieved, plus industrial, agricultural and oil production, all thanks to the democratic model.
Finally, he said that due to these sanctions, the country once lost its ability to regulate the international market and meet the needs of neighboring peoples, but that now the recovery that the country is experiencing has allowed it to enter the world oil market with force.
