Until a few days ago in the Venezuelan Armed Forces you could end up in prison, from one to three years, for being homosexual.
The Organic Code of Military Justice established homosexuality as “unnatural sexual acts”, for which members of the militia were heavily investigated and severely punished if they demonstrated a different sexual preference.
But all this changed, since the Supreme Court of Justice handed down a sentence, this Thursday, in which it declared unconstitutional article 565 of the Code of Military Justice that penalized homosexuality.
